The second day in Amritsar started gently. Soft morning light entered the hotel rooms, and a calm warmth filled the air. After breakfast, everyone sat together in the lobby, chatting and planning the day. Today, they decided to explore the local markets–not just for shopping, but to feel the real heartbeat of the city.

Shreya was excited, already listing things she wanted to buy. Dadi smiled and told her, "Bargain Karna mat bhoolna." Everyone laughed. Ishani was sitting quietly beside Kirti, listening, but her eyes sometimes drifted toward Reyansh. He noticed. Their eyes met for a second. Ishani immediately looked away.

After getting ready, the families divided into three cars. Reyansh, Ishani, Ashirit, and Ekanshi sat in one and everyone else was sitting like they did yesterday. The ride was peaceful. Ishani looked out of the window, watching the city pass by. Reyansh stole small glances at her, smiling to himself.

They reached the bustling market–a place filled with colors, the aroma of street food, the sound of shopkeepers calling out deals, and tiny stores packed with beautiful fabrics, jhumkas, juttis, and phulkaris.

As they started walking, Ishani slowed down beside Kirti and Shreya, admiring the colorful dupattas hanging on one side. But her eyes were unsure. She picked up a off white one, then a  navy blue, then looked at them both again.

Reyansh noticed her confusion. He walked up slowly and stood beside her.

"Confused ho?" he asked, his voice soft.

Ishani looked at him, slightly shy. "Haan... dono hi ache hain , samajh nahi aa raha hai konsa loon."

He took both in his hand, observed them quietly, then pointed to the navy blue  one. "Yeh wala.It will look more good as it matches with your softness , holds a royal elegance and is graceful and very different. "

She looked at him, surprised at his choice, and then softly smiled. "Ok , Thank you ...I'll buy this one"...

Their little moment didn't go unnoticed. Sunidhi nudged Kirti. "Dekha aapne ?How they both are trying to understand  each other."

Kirti smiled proudly. "Haan. Dil se samajh rahe hai ek dusre ko ."

Ishani had now gathered a few more items - bangles, a small handmade diary, and some silver earrings. Reyansh carried the bag for her, without her asking.

"Yeh sab main le chalta hoon," he said simply.

"Reyansh... main kar lungi," she tried.

He just shook his head. "Aap already thak chuki hain... let me do something."

As they passed a chaat stall, Shreya dragged everyone to try some. The families sat together, laughing and sharing plates. Ishani carefully wiped Reyansh's hand with a tissue when some chutney spilled. He looked at her, amused and touched.

"Aap to bilkul biwiyo wale kaam kar rahi hai," he teased.Ishani turned pink and quickly looked away.

Later, when they stopped near a jutti shop, Reyansh saw Ishani sitting on a stool, struggling to fasten the strap of a jutti. He bent down silently, took the strap, and helped her wear it.

"Reyansh... sab dekh rahe honge," she whispered.

"Dekhne do," he said, looking up at her. "Mujhe farak nahi padta."

Ishani looked down at him. There was admiration in her eyes, a softness that said more than words.By the time they finished shopping, the sun was setting. The market lights began to glow, casting a golden hue over the streets. Ishani and Reyansh walked beside each other. Their hands brushed. Once. Twice.

Then Ishani softly slipped her hand into his.

He looked down at her, surprised.

"Kya hua?" he asked.

She just looked ahead, not looking into his eyes , blushing slightly "kuch nahi ...."

After listening this Reyansh hold her hand tightly and said"When you do something on your own – like holding my hand just like now or hugging me , it feels special,Ishani .Like you're choosing me....without seeing a reason or words. And that means everything for me."

After a minute of silence she replied softly"I don't know why, but just being with you...even these small gestures...they give me peace–a feeling of belonging ...like I belong to you".They didn't talk much after that. They just walked, hand in hand, their hearts full.

Sometimes, it's not big words or grand gestures. Sometimes, it's just a small moment in a crowded market, a choice of a dupatta, a shared smile, and a held hand that makes love feel real. And that evening, in the streets of Amritsar, their bond quietly grew deeper.

After enjoying their time in the local market, the day wasn't over yet. The families were still in the mood to explore more of Amritsar. Sunidhi looked at Kirti and said, "Aaj ka mausum bhot accha hai. Chalo kahin aur chalte hain." Everyone agreed happily.

They decided to visit a beautiful, lesser-known garden nearby–Ram Bagh Garden. It was peaceful, full of flowers, trees, and small fountains. The air was cool and fresh, and the atmosphere felt calming.

As they entered, Reyansh gently touched Ishani's back to guide her in. She was still holding a small shopping bag and smiling softly.

Ashirit and Ekanshi were walking a few steps behind. Ekanshi was softly talking about the flowers, and Ashirit was actually listening, a small smile on his face. He rarely spoke much, but his eyes said everything. At one point, Ekanshi stopped and pointed at a white rose. "Ye kitna sundar hai na?" she said. Ashirit nodded and replied, "Aapko  pasand aaya hai toh accha hi hoga."

Reyansh and Ishani,  found a stone bench near a small fountain. Both sat down. There was a comfortable silence. The kind that didn't feel empty–it felt warm.

Reyansh looked at her, watching the way she tucked her hairs behind her ear. "Aap itni sundar  kaise lgti h bina kisi effort ke?" he said, almost to himself.

Ishani blushed and looked away. "Aisa kuch nahi hai," she whispered.

Then she asked, "Aapko shanti achhi lagti hai ya aise crowded markets?"

Reyansh thought for a second, then said, "Jahan aap sath ho, woh saari jagah acchi hai." Ishani smiled shyly and looked down.

Meanwhile, Shreya clicked a few pictures of the family sitting on the grass. Dadi was sharing snacks from a small tiffin she had brought along. Avyansh and Yuvaan were teasing each other as always, laughing loudly.

Everyone spent some quiet, meaningful time together. The younger ones helped Dadi walk slowly, holding her hands from both sides. Kirti and Sunidhi were discussing how peaceful the day had been. Even Abhay and Ishani's father shared a light-hearted conversation.

Later, as the sky turned golden-orange, they all stood near the garden exit. Ishani looked up and whispered a quiet thank you in her heart. She was grateful–for her family, for Reyansh, for moments like these.

On the way back, Reyansh and Ishani sat together in the car again. This time, the silence between them was filled with understanding.

The market walk had ended beautifully. Ishani smiled the entire way back to the car, holding her shopping bags close, especially the ones Reyansh helped her choose. Everyone had bought something–some phulkaris, juttis, jhumkas, patiala suit. But there was something Reyansh hadn't told anyone.

While Ishani was busy trying on a suit, he had secretly bought a pair of delicate silver –anklets the kind with small ghunghroos that made a soft chime–and a pair of traditional Punjabi jhumkas he saw her admiring but she didn't buy them for herself.

Back at the hotel, no one was in the mood for dinner. They had already eaten roadside chaats–golgappas, aloo tikkis, and kulchas–and the fun, laughter-filled evening had left everyone full, content and tired.

The moment they entered, families wished each other goodnight and went into their rooms.

Reyansh changed into a plain t-shirt and joggers in his room. Ashirit was using his mobile, so Reyansh turned to him and said casually, "Main thodi der garden tak jaa raha hoon."Ashirit just nodded, not asking further.

But Reyansh didn't go to the garden. He knew Shreya and Ekanshi had gone down there already. And he had something else in mind.He walked quietly to Ishani's room, the soft gift box in his hand. His heart beat slightly faster, for no reason other than seeing her.

He gently knocked. After a few seconds, Ishani opened the door. She was wearing a simple suit and had removed her earrings. Her hair was tied up loosely, and she looked peaceful... but a little surprised to see him.

Before she could speak, Reyansh softly said, "Can I come in for a minute?"

She moved aside, nodding slightly, her heart suddenly picking up speed.

He entered slowly and closed the door behind him.

Without a word, he handed her the small bag.

She looked at it curiously, then at him.

"Kya hai ye?" she asked, softly.

"Khud dekh lijiye," he replied, a small smile playing on his lips.

She opened it and pulled out the jhumkas first. Her eyes lit up in surprise.

"Ye... ye toh wahi jhumke hain jo maine dekhe the," she whispered.

He just smiled."Pasand aaye the na, lekin liye nahi. Toh maine le liye."

Before she could react, he took the jhumkas from her hands.

"Ek minute," he said and hold her hands guiding her towards the mirror. He stood behind her and  gently tucked her loose hair behind her ear ,carefully made her wear the jhumka on one side. His fingers brushed her skin, and she froze. His touch was soft, almost reverent.

Then, he bent slightly and placed a light kiss near her ear, just where the jhumka swayed gently.

Ishani felt her heart flutter. Her breath caught.

She didn't speak.

She didn't move.

Instead, she turned and hugged him, arms wrapping softly around him, her head resting on his chest. His arms went around her naturally.

There was silence.

No need for words.

After a moment, he whispered near her ear, voice lower than a breath, "Aur ye..."

He slowly took out the anklets from the gift pouch and gently held them up.

She looked down, eyes wide with wonder.

"Aapko ye anklet... main pehnauga. Shaadi ke baad. Apne haathon se, tb tak aap inhe sambhal ke rakhiye." he said with quiet honesty.

Her eyes met his, filled with warmth, with shyness, and something that felt a lot like love. She blushed and looked down again, too shy to answer. But her silence was enough. He didn't push more.He didn't need to.

He kissed her forehead gently and said, "Goodnight, Mrs. soon-to-be Reyansh."

She finally smiled, cheeks warm.

"Goodnight," she whispered.

And with that, he left the room, heart light and full, leaving her standing with jhumkas swaying and anklets pressed softly against her palm like a promise she would carry in her heart.
