CHAPTER 11

The morning was peaceful when Ishani woke up earlier than usual. She sat up, stretched her arms, and glanced at her phone. A sudden thought made her smile - she would text Reyansh first today.

She hesitated for a moment but then quickly typed:

"Good morning, Reyansh."

Without waiting for a reply, she kept her phone aside and got out of bed. Today was important   event to manage - she had an event to attend. She got dressed in a graceful suit, had her breakfast, and left for the venue.

 At Reyansh's Place,

Reyansh lazily woke up, rubbing his eyes as he reached for his phone. The moment he saw Ishani's name on the screen, he paused.

She texted first?

For a second, he thought he was still dreaming. Ishani had never texted him first before. He blinked, read the message again, and a wide smile spread across his face.

Feeling happy, he quickly replied:

"Good morning ❤️"

He wanted to call her right away, but he knew she would be busy. So, he decided ,he would call her after reaching the office. With a light heart and a happy mood, he got ready, went to the gym, and then joined his family for breakfast.

As He sat down, his family noticed something different - he was smiling to himself.  Shreya raised an eyebrow.

"Bhai, why are you smiling like this? Did Bhabhi said something sweet?" she teased.

Reyansh, caught off guard, felt his cheeks warm up. He tried to act normal, but Shreya and the rest of the family had already noticed.

"Ohh, look at him! Blushing so early in the morning," his mother teased with a knowing smile.

"Maa, please..." Reyansh muttered, picking up his coffee, trying to hide his reaction.

Shreya giggled. "Bhai, should I ask bhabhi what she said that made you so happy?"

Reyansh narrowed his eyes at her. "Say one more word, and I'll cut your pocket money this month."

Immediately, Shreya zipped her lips. Their mother chuckled at their banter.

After a few moments, his mother spoke, "By the way, tomorrow we have to go to Ishani's house."

Reyansh looked up, confused. "Why?"

His mother smiled. "For your 'shagun' ceremony."

Reyansh paused for a moment, taking in her words. He didn't say anything, but deep inside, he felt a strange mix of excitement and nervousness.

With that thought, he finished his breakfast, already looking forward to calling Ishani once he reached the office.

At Kapoor's house

Ishani was having breakfast when her phone buzzed. She casually picked it up and saw Reyansh's reply. Her eyes widened slightly when she noticed the red heart emoji. For some reason, her cheeks felt warm.

Ashirit, sitting across from her, caught the change in her expression and smirked.
"Kiska message hai?" she asked teasingly.

Ishani, caught off guard, stuttered,"K-kisika nahi."

Ashirit raised an eyebrow, amused. "Haan, tabhi phone dekh kar blush kar rahi ho?"

Hearing this, her parents also smiled knowingly, making Ishani even more flustered. She quickly focused on finishing her breakfast and then left for her event, but the warmth on her face refused to fade.

At Reyansh's Office

Reyansh reached his office. The first thing he did was check his phone, smiling again at Ishani's message. Without waiting, he called her.

The phone rang a few times, and just when he thought she wouldn't pick up, she answered in a soft voice,
"Hello?"

Hearing her voice, Reyansh's smile deepened. "Aap busy toh nahi thi?"

"Thodi si," Ishani replied, her voice still quiet.

"Phir bhi call utha li?" he asked lightly.

Ishani hesitated before saying, "Haan... dekha  aapka cll tha isliye... bas."

Reyansh leaned back in his chair, enjoying the small moment. They talked about random things for a minute - how their morning had been, the work they had lined up for the day. Then Reyansh casually asked,"Waise, aaj subah subah mujhe message karne ka khayal kaise aaya?"

Ishani instantly felt shy. "Bas... aise hi," she mumbled.

Reyansh chuckled. "Matlab?"

"Bas aapko good morning wish karna tha," she admitted softly.

Reyansh's voice turned even softer as he said, "Ishani... hume accha laga aapka aaj khud se message karna."

Ishani didn't respond immediately, but he could sense her shyness through the silence.

"Agar aise roz subah good morning ka message mile, toh din accha jaayega," he added lightly.

Ishani bit her lip, unsure of what to say.

After a moment, Reyansh changed the topic. "Kal hum aapke ghar aa rahe hain."

Ishani was surprised. "Kyuu?"

He smiled and said, "Aapko officially apna banane ke liye. Uss din sab cheezein jaldi fix ho gayi thi, ab shagun leke aa rahe hai."

Ishani gripped her phone a little tighter, her heart suddenly beating faster. She knew this was coming, but hearing him say it so directly made it feel more real.

"Ohh..." was all she could say.

Reyansh chuckled softly. "Itni shant kyun ho gayi?"

Ishani looked down, fiddling with the edge of her dupatta. "Kuch nahi," she whispered.

"Sach bol rahi hain?" he teased gently.

"Haan," she said quickly, but the warmth in her voice gave her away.

They continued talking for a little while - Reyansh told her about a funny incident from his office, and she shared a small mishap from her event preparations. Their conversation flowed easily, with moments of comfortable silence in between.

Finally, Reyansh said, "Acha, aap apna kaam continue kijiye, main bhi thoda busy hoon. Par haan, kal milenge."

Ishani nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "Theek hai," she said softly.

"Take care, Ishani."

She smiled faintly. "You too."

After the call ended, Ishani stared at her phone for a moment. A small, nervous excitement settled in her heart.Tomorrow is going to be a big day.

Even though both Ishani and Reyansh got busy with their work, somewhere in their hearts, they were excited for the next day.

As the evening passed, Ishani finished her event work and returned home. On the other hand, Reyansh was still caught up with his tasks. His work stretched late into the night, and by the time he finally reached home, he assumed Ishani must have already fallen asleep. Not wanting to disturb her, he decided against calling and went to bed himself.

The next morning, Reyansh followed his usual routine - waking up early, freshening up, and getting ready. When he reached downstairs, he saw that all the preparations for the shagun ceremony were already done. The gifts and essentials were packed neatly in the car. After having breakfast, his family set out for Ishani's house.

At Ishani's Home

When Ishani reached home the in the  evening, her mother informed her,
"Kal Sunidhi ji shagun leke aa rahi hai."

Ishani already knew this - Reyansh had told her the day before-but she didn't mention it. Instead, she simply nodded, had dinner with her family and went to her room.

She sat on her bed, waiting for a call or message from Reyansh. But as time passed and her phone remained silent, she eventually drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Ishani woke up early. She had breakfast with her family and then began getting ready for the special occasion. She chose a beautiful beige saree, its soft fabric draping elegantly around her. After carefully styling her hair and putting on subtle makeup, she looked at herself in the mirror - today something felt different.

Just as she was making the final touches, the sound of cars pulling up outside made her heart skip a beat.

Reyansh and his family had arrived. As Ishani descended the stairs, she saw Reyansh's family entering the house. The warmth of the moment filled the air.

Reyansh greeted Ashirit with a side hug and then bent down to touch Bhavesh and Kirti's feet. Ishani, in turn, took blessings from Abhay, Sunidhi, and her grandparents. She then hugged Shreya and exchanged a polite smile with Yuvan and Avyansh.

Everyone settled down in the living room, chatting and laughing. The elders, especially Dadi and Sunidhi, couldn't stop praising Ishani.

"You look so beautiful today," Sunidhi remarked with a fond smile.

Shreya, always playful, added teasingly, "Bhabhi looks beautiful every day! How will we come up with new compliments every time?"

The room filled with soft laughter, but amidst the cheerful chatter, Reyansh's eyes were fixed on Ishani. His gaze held an intensity that made her heart race. Not knowing how to respond, she looked away shyly, pretending to be engrossed in something else.

Dadi finally spoke, "kya hum rasam shuru Kare?"

Everyone agreed, and soon, Ishani and Reyansh were seated together, side by side, ready for the shagun ceremony to begin. After the ceremony had begun, Reyansh's mother came forward and gently placed a red chunari on his head as a symbol of blessing. Then, she carefully adorned Ishani with beautiful jewelry and  a graceful saree. She also gave her a coconut and money as part of the ritual.

Similarly, gifts were presented to Reyansh - a new suit, kurta pajama, a gold chain, a watch, another coconut, and some money. Reyansh, with a humble smile, tried to refuse the offerings. But Bhavesh quickly said,
"Beta, these are part of the rituals and blessings. You should not refuse them."

After the gifts were accepted, Reyansh and Ishani feed sweets to each other Their eyes met briefly as they exchanged shy smiles. The ritual was now complete, and everyone's hearts were filled with joy.

Soon, Shreya teased,"I think, we should give new couple some alone time."

The playful comment made everyone laugh. Then Kirti suggested,"Why don't you both go to the garden for a while?"

Hearing this, Ishani looked at Reyansh shyly and said softly,"Chaliye..."

Reyansh, with a gentle smile, followed her. Together, they stepped into the garden. Inside the garden, Ishani tried to avoid looking at Reyansh, feeling both shy and excited. Reyansh noticed this and smiled warmly as he watched her. After a few moments,Ishani asked nervously "Aap kl busy the ?,mtlb late free hue the ?"

"Han , kl kaafi kaam tha raat mai 1bje k around free hue tha."He replied, then ask"kyu?"

"Aise hi"She said

"Aise hi?ya aap wait kr rhi thi cll ka or humse baat krne ka?"He teased.

"N-Nahi ,aisa nhi hai"she said not matching his gaze.

Reyansh spoke softly,"Ishani."

Ishani looked down and whispered,"Haan..."

"Idhar dekhiye"he said his voice soft and slow

But still she didn't look at him.Seeing her hesitation, Reyansh gently placed his finger on her chin and asked,
"Please, look at me."

At that quiet moment in the garden, with the soft rustle of leaves around them, Ishani slowly lifted her gaze to meet his. In that simple, tender moment, their hearts spoke a language all their own.

Reyansh looked at Ishani and chuckled softly."Agar aap itna sharmayengi to kaise chalega?" he teased.

Ishani's heart raced. She glanced at him nervously, but he was watching her with such softness that it made her feel even more flustered. Before she could think, she suddenly stepped forward and hugged him.

Reyansh stiffened slightly, surprised by her sudden action. His hands hovered in the air for a brief moment before he relaxed. A small smile formed on his lips.

Ishani, on the other hand, soon realized what she had just done. Her eyes widened, and she quickly tried to step back, feeling embarrassed. But before she could move away, Reyansh gently wrapped his arms around her, his hand resting lightly on her back.

"Itni jaldi kahaan ja rahi ho?" he said softly, his voice carrying a warmth that made Ishani's cheeks flush even more.. She lowered her gaze, feeling too shy to look at him.

"Vo... bas... pata nahi, bas aise hi..." she mumbled, struggling to find words.

Reyansh chuckled and tilted his head slightly.
"Aise hi?" he repeated.

Ishani bit her lip and nodded hesitantly.

Reyansh took a deep breath, as if trying to control a smile"Achha laga," he admitted, his voice a little quieter than before.

Ishani blinked and finally looked up at him."Kya?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Aapka khud se mujhe hug krna" Reyansh said, his eyes meeting hers. "Nahi socha tha ki aisa bhi hoga."

Ishani quickly looked away, feeling completely embarrassed. Reyansh watched her amusedly, enjoying how shy she had become.

After a moment, he added gently, "Aap comfortable ho na?"

Ishani nodded, again avoiding his gaze.

Reyansh smiled."Toh phir thodi der aur ruk sakte ho."

Ishani's breath hitched. Her hands were resting lightly against his chest, and she could feel his steady heartbeat. She hesitated but didn't move away. For a few moments, they stood there in comfortable silence, the cool breeze rustling the leaves around them. Ishani finally whispered, "Aapko sach me itna achha laga?"

Reyansh smiled softly.
"Haan, bohot zyada," he said sincerely. "I like every moment which I spend with you."

Ishani's heart skipped a beat. She wasn't used to hearing such direct words from him. She lowered her gaze again, feeling her cheeks burn.

Reyansh observed her for a moment before softly saying, "Aap itna sharma rahi hain... par aisa lag raha hai ki ab aadat dalni padegi."

Ishani finally mustered the courage to look at him.
"Kyun?" she asked hesitantly.

Reyansh smirked slightly. "Because from now you're a part of my life... and I want to spend more moments like this with you".Ishani felt speechless. Her heart was beating so loudly she was sure he could hear it too.

Before she could think of a reply, Reyansh smiled and gently let go of her."Chalo, ab chalte hain, warna andar wale sochenge hum bhaag gaye," he joked.

Ishani let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. She still felt nervous, but also... happy.

As they walked back, Reyansh quietly said, "Waise, agar dobara aise hug karna ho, toh bata dena. Main hamesha ready hoon."

Ishani gasped and playfully hit his arm.
"Aap bhi na!" she muttered, walking ahead quickly.

Reyansh laughed softly and followed her inside, his heart feeling lighter than ever.As they stepped inside, everyone turned to look at them. Ishani adjusted her saree, feeling slightly conscious. Reyansh, on the other hand, walked in with his usual ease.

Shreya smirked. "Kaisa laga garden ka mausam?" she teased.

Ishani quickly looked away, pretending to fix the bangles on her wrist. Reyansh simply shook his head with a small smile.

To shift the attention, Kirti spoke up. "Chai le aayiye Ishani, sab thak gaye honge."

Ishani nodded. "Main le aati hoon, mummy."

As she walked toward the kitchen, Reyansh casually followed her.

She glanced at him. "Aap kyun aa rahe hain?"

"Kyun? Madad nahi kar sakta?" he said lightly.

Ishani didn't reply but didn't stop him either. In the kitchen, She  started preparing tea . Reyansh leaned against the counter, watching her.

"Sab kaafi comfortable lag rahe hain," Ishani said, breaking the silence.

"Hona bhi chahiye. Aap ab is ghar ka hissa banne wali ho," Reyansh replied simply.

She looked at him for a second but quickly turned away. There was a strange warmth in his words-something reassuring.

Before she could respond tea was ready she transferred it into cups and walked out, leaving Reyansh behind. He just smiled and followed her back to the living room.

As tea was served, the family fell into lighthearted conversations. Bhavesh shared stories from the past, Sunidhi asked Ishani about her work, and Dadi blessed the couple.

Among all the chatter, Reyansh and Ishani occasionally exchanged glances - some stolen, some intentional. It was a new beginning, one they were both still settling into, but somewhere, deep down, it felt right.

When everyone started getting ready to leave, Reyansh's gaze instinctively drifted toward Ishani. She was standing quietly, her fingers lightly touching the pleats of her saree.

Ashirit noticed and smirked. "Reyansh...mera matlab hone wale jija ji ...abhi to aap dono bahar se saath aaye hain, phir bhi aapko aur milna hai ,jo aap aise dekh rahe hain?"

Reyansh, lost in his own world, absentmindedly replied, "Haan..."

The whole family chuckled. Dadi shook her head with a knowing smile, while Sunidhi gave Ishani a teasing glance.

"Acha chalo, hum sab bahar ja rahe hain, tum dono paanch minute mein aajana," Kirti said playfully.

Before Ishani could react, everyone started leaving, giving them some space. As the door closed behind them, a comfortable silence settled in.

Reyansh took slow steps toward her. Ishani looked up at him, unsure of what he was thinking. And then, without saying a word, he wrapped his arms around her.She stiffened for a moment, surprised. But his warmth was reassuring, his presence calming.

"I know it's all new," he murmured. "And we together are part of it. Aap tension mat lo."

Ishani didn't say anything, but her hands slowly lifted, resting lightly on his back. He felt her hesitation but also her trust. After a few moments, he pulled back just enough to press a soft kiss against her forehead. His lips lingered there a little longer than they should have, as if trying to ease away any uncertainty she might be feeling.

When he moved back, he looked at her with a small smile. "Kya mujhe bhi ek forehead kiss milegi?" he teased .Ishani's eyes widened slightly, and she looked away, unsure of what to say. Seeing her hesitation, Reyansh chuckled softly."Main mazak kar raha tha, rehne dijiye. Aap comfortable nahi hain toh..."

Before he could finish, Ishani lifted her eyes to meet his and, without a word, gestured for him to lean down slightly.

A little surprised, Reyansh obeyed. And the next moment, Ishani placed a soft kiss on his forehead. It was brief but full of silent emotions.

Both of them closed their eyes for a second, letting the moment sink in.

As soon as Ishani pulled back, she quickly turned and walked out of the room, her heart fluttered in her chest.

Reyansh stood there for a second, a slow smile spreading on his lips before he followed her outside.

Once they stepped out, both families were waiting. Ishani's parents  blessed Reyansh, as he, touched their feet and Ishani too touch feets of elders and they blessed her. With final goodbyes exchanged, Reyansh and his family left, but something had changed between them today.

A new understanding.
A new closeness.
A step closer to something neither of them had expected, yet it felt just right.
